Mobile Computing Updates!

Since our last meeting, Apple has release iOS 4.2.1 that offers all the benefits of iOS 4 for iPad and adds printing among other things. We'll have a comprehensive roundup of 4.2 features on the iPad and show off some ways of taking advantage of them. Printing, however, is limited to a relatively small group of printers for now. We'll show you various ways you can print documents from your iPad using other techniques and third party applications

We've also got at least one model of the new MacBook Air on hand and we'll show how thin and light it is. We'll also discuss what it doesn't have and how much of an impact it may or may not have on your daily computing.

This month, we'll continue our in-depth series by discussing RSS (Really Simple Syndication). We'll discuss how it works and what Mac and iOS apps really take advantage of it so as to make your daily list of regular web site stories quicker and easier. We'll also include offline reading applications like Instapaper and Offline Pages to really leverage the power of mobile computing. This is the type of software technology that can really change your life.

Our meeting this month will be at the same location as last month. We thank Jan Chesne for allowing us to use the rec room at her townhome.

Address: 2700 Pearl St. in Santa Monica (Pearl & 27th).

Directions: 27th St. going south from Pico ends in the entrance to the complex (In front it says Village Park Townhomes).  Go in the entrance, turn right, go over 2 speed bumps (street curves to the left) and park in the parking spaces or anywhere along the road where it doesn't say "No parking."  The rec room is across the road from the parking spaces and slightly south.  The rec room is off Unit 60 (please don't bother any of the residents).
